The Friendship in Madagascar

This movie focuses on four residents and "stars" of the Central Park Zoo in New York City who are also best friends: a lion (Stiller), a zebra (Rock), a giraffe (Schwimmer) and a pregnant hippo (Smith). When one of them goes missing, the other three break out of the zoo looking for him, and eventually all four are captured and put in boxes to ship them back to the continent their species are originally from: Africa. An accident at sea, however, strands them on the shore of Madagascar. Having had humans take care of them their entire life, the four know nothing of surviving in the wild, or that one of them, the lion, is genetically predisposed to eat his three best friends. Exploring their surroundings, the four friends soon meet the Malagasy locals (a type of lemur given to having loud "rave-like" dance parties) and their carnivorous enemies, the fousas. As the two sides try to use these four new, strange (and large) friends to their benefit, our heroes are also confronted with the reality of their predestined roles in nature.

Why are the characters in the movie so bonded together? Why do they stick with one another during difficult times and help each other out? Despite their completely different personalities, they are able to stay united as one, after they were being washed ashore a foreign island. SO, what makes them stay together?
This is probably because a group will meet a member's interpersonal needs for inclusion, control and affection. In addition, a group will lend its members the support and the commitment that individuals needed.

This is group communication.
The different characteristics of the animals bring them together. Some were brought together because of their similarities, their dissimilarities, proximity etc etc. The different maintenance and task roles that they play also have an impact on the group. For example, one of the penguins is the coordinator for the group. The trask roles that the other penguins play in the group is essential because this is how the group can function together and work as one.
Conflicts do occur too. However, at the end of the movie, they are able to overcome the conflicts and the difficulities that they face and stay together as close friends.
Cheers, people!

Hihi...

Friendship is universal.. Like love, friendship needs no reason..

Reason behind: every living being on earth are closely bonded.. maybe not by blood in this lifetime...

However, there is no arguement that everyone on earth is linked in one way or another...

Otherwise, Friendster & Facebook wouldn't have evolved!! :)

I love Madagascar!! i think they're showing it on channel 5 on this sunday! haha!

Anyway, i think that the people we mix with tells a lot about how similar we are to them.

Group communication is effective in forming bonds between people, especially when everyone in the group engages in groupthink. However, this may be one of its shortcomings.

i like to move it, move it! :)

HAHA..love the catchy song in this movie. The lion is my favorite =D

Its a real miracle that people all over the world meet in a way or another and thus becoming friends, couples or even wife and husbands. Everyone needs social life, however finding suitable companions is never easy.

Great to have you and ah bee!!! Oh yah..i just realised groupthink is kind of prominent between us..especially when we gossip! =P codenames!

Ohh wow i love this movie.. truly funny and like zhi ying said the catchy tunes it has is smthg which u won't 4get soon.

It shows the friendship very well between the characters such as between the lion and the zebra. The zebra comes back even though he's ingrave danger due to the hyenas, for the lion when he isolates himself in the place taken up by the hyenas as he thinks he's a danger to others.

P.S i love the penguins in there the most ;)

Group communication is indeed important as it allows people to embark on a more daring decision as opposed to just an individual. Group synergy helps to push the group forward towards their objectives and also, it provides companionship and support. In my opinion, i believe that any individual should be involved in a group, be it task-related or not.
